MBC Fact #5

#DidYouKnow? The 5-year survival rate for localized breast cancer is an inspiring 99%, but drops significantly to only 30% for Stage IV (Metastatic) Cancer, according to the NCI's SEER database.

With #SMMBCF, I aim to raise awareness, support, and funding for treatment providers and researchers that further the goal of ensuring access to life-extending treatments for all women living with #MBC. As a 6+ year survivor of #MBC I am a rarity, as currently less than 10% of us survivor longer than 5 years living with #MBC. My goal is to ensure that my story is the norm, not the exception by helping fund programs that promote more women receiving the standard of care for #MBC as soon as possible following diagnosis. With more women receiving the standard of care immediately upon diagnosis, the long term survival rate for #MBC should begin to increase to 10, 15 or 20+ years and beyond.
